EICON NETWORKS AND TELAMON CORPORATION
PARTNER TO DELIVER ADSL PRODUCTS TO ISP AND CLEC MARKETS
Partnership Results in Lower Cost of Ownership
for ADSL Service Providers
MONTREAL, April 2, 2001 - Eicon
Networks Corporation, a worldwide provider of secure Internet
connectivity products, is expanding its existing relationship
with Telamon Corporation to provide a comprehensive product
and support solution to Asynchronous Digital Subscriber Line
(ADSL) service providers.
Both Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and Competitive
Local Exchange Carriers (CLECs) stand to benefit from the partnership,
which combines Eicon's easy-to-install Diva 2430 SE ADSL Modem
with Telamon's "Broadband-To-Go" order management, self-installation
kit and help desk services. This package successfully addresses
the needs of service providers by reducing installation and
support costs which lowers the total cost of ownership and increases
profitability.
Eicon's Diva 2430 SE offers telecommuters and
home office users easy access to the Internet over high-speed
broadband lines. The modem's Connect and Surf and Point-To-Point
Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) technologies enable end-users
to start surfing at high speed by simply plugging the device
into an ADSL line. This auto-configuration feature ensures total
installation, eliminating the need for costly on-site technical
supervision. No pre-configuration is required.
"Eicon and Telamon together have served thousands
of customers in the ISDN market. Now Eicon has extended their
knowledge of ease-of-use and ease of installation to the ADSL
market," said Telamon Corporation's Vice President of Operations,
Patricia O'Neal.
Additionally, service providers can contract
with Telamon for order management and end-user support services.
Service providers can market their connectivity solutions, while
Telamon's call center will take customers calls on their behalf,
close the sale, manage the order through provisioning and ship
Diva ADSL modems and a self-install kit directly to the customer.
The service provider never needs to handle the inventory. Support
calls to service providers are virtually eliminated, further
reducing the cost of deployment.
For those users who prefer the added security
of having a technician walk them through the installation process,
help is only a phone call away. By calling Telamon's convenient
End-User Installation Help Desk 800 number, end-users have access
to personalized installation and technical support. When self-installation
is not desirable, or possible, Telamon can also provide professional
on-site installation in many locations.
"Backed by Telamon's qualified support staff,
even non-technical users will breeze through the installation
process. We are very pleased that Telamon extends value-added
services and fulfillment capabilities to the service provider
market for Eicon Networks' ADSL products," said Reuben Shafer,
Director of Sales, Service Providers, Americas.
